Good morning, we're still rolling here, I see. Trapper, though I'm a Christian I'm not a Biblical expert by any stretch, unfortunately.
But when it comes to John's question, my best guess is probably that even though God Himself knew that Jesus would pass the test, He still sent Jesus into the woods so that others could see what was needed to fight off temptation? And even though we ourselves are expected to fail at this kind of test that Christ went through, it was the ultimate example/show of guidance as to how we can at least consciously fight off the devil's temptations if we really try? I am certainly not a minister, but is that a fair guess, you think?
God gave Jesus to us, His only Son. His life was meant to be the ultimate example for us to live by, in addition, of course, to the ultimate sacrifice He made for us.
