James 1:13 seems to suggest otherwise.

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: (Emphasis added)

If God (Jesus) cannot be tempted with evil, then He really wasn't doing it as a mortal, was He? He already had a priori knowledge of His success before He went into the forty days. How could He not?
