Re: Forty-Day Water Fast

Ny,
this is not good news but nothing I believe to be alarmed about.

Black specs of blood within vomit are usually a sign of Gastrointestinal bleeding that has congealed. This is not surprising given the amount and severity of your retching and the force behind the vomiting process.
It is also a sign that the bleeding has stopped.

I would be more concerned if this was fresh-looking blood and bright red in color.

Light to medium yellow vomit is bile: the Liver is discarding its malformed bile this way so nothing unusual. My own vomit was also of the same color and this is quite common in those who are physically sick whilst fasting.

Your stomach lining will be untouched by the vomiting and where any fresh blood should be minimal which it is: in your sputum.
It is the violence of being sick that can cause injury and therefore some bleeding, but the body in its wisdom has healed most of it by revealing congealed blood or the black specs you refer to.

My thoughts are that as long as you are retaining some fluid, and 18 ozs is quite a lot, and where your BP and heart-rate is within the normal range, then there is nothing to be overly concerned about.

I am certain this vomiting crisis will end within a day or two more, so I would persevere if you can and let the body do its work.

Rest as much as possible.

How are the feelings of nausea and gas now?

Sip hotish water if you can but not boiling water.
