Re: Pushing the stick forward (search link added)

You know, I think I know what the problem may be. I think it's drinking alcohol that has upset the balance. I noticed when I went out tonight that even though I am lighter, my jeans were slighlty tighter, and of late I have had less energy.

I googled alcohol and nutrient absorbtion and found several scholarly articles and this. It seems that alcohol impairs the absorption of various things. I think this is why I have had a tendancy to eat more foods lately, it's because of that nutrient loss. This means that alcohol may screw up the whole healthy eating plan. Before I decided to treat my self to this little reward now and then, I was not restricting in any way. Now I find I am trying to.

So I think I will knock anything alcoholic on the head completely, or at least until I get to below BMI 25. I have done that for a year, so should have no problem.

And I agree about keeping it off, yes it has to stay off for a while.

I think giving up booze will push the stick forward again as it were, because if my nutrient absorption increases I will need less food to get the nutrients, so eat less without restricting.

This will take a few days, because I have some olives and things that I need to eat, and I guess I may as well finish the 3 cans in the fridge tonight, then I should be back on track. Let's see if the slope now increases, but it'll take a couple of weeks to see I think.
