I found that the chemist sells purified water (£4/5 litres), which is not actually distilled water, but close enough for me. The purification method includes reverse osmosis and that’s a good way to remove fluoride. I actually doubt if fluoride or chlorine were ever in the source water. the doctors can only test if you are having an outbreak with a swab test and those are not always accurate. They dont always leak the actual virus. It sounds like your body is fighting it and so far winning. Try to remember that the ”one in six people” they say have it-have had outbreaks. Sorry you’re suffering so much. You might want to look under hemorrhoid forums and see what has helped other people. Once you’ve tried those suggestions and over-the-counter medications, then it might be time to see a gastroenterologist. There might be medications out there that require a prescription that will help. Surgery is the last resort. Eating more fiber (fruits, vegetables), drink plenty of water, and walk about 30 minutes a day and that should help. Everyone is different as to what works for them. Hi everyone, its great to have such an outlet to express opinions. I am a Director with a noted motoring club in Edmonton, AB. I believe I may have been exposed to herpes around June 25. Today is July 16. I tested negative at the local STD clinic for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and HIV. Actually, shingles is caused by the member of the herpes family called herpes zoster. It has no connection to the Herpes Papilloma Virus, HPV. I agree with the advice to get an active outbreak swabbed for, preferably an PCR analysis or perhaps a culture to determine if it’s shingles or herpes simplex. The most effective treatment for either is to use one of the available antivirals, acyclovir, valtrex or famvir. They’re all very safe and have dosages for both shingles and HSV.   [End]

Going back 15 or 20 years ago some of the early herpes tests had some cross-reactivity to antibodies produced by other members of the herpes family. Today, that should not be true with any of the modern tests. Was your swab a culture or PCR and if a culture, was it type-specific?
