I think Ev's point was: while the Atom bomb helped stop WWII, and radiation does shrink tumors, cortisone removes all signs of a rash, and aspirin dulls the pain of a headache, vaccines often don't address the underlying cause.

Ev may have also read some of the research that many of us have researched on herd immuniziation; namely, the amount of mercury and other toxins found in current vaccines.

For starters, I'd suggest Evidence of Harm: Mercury in Vaccines and the Autism Epidemic, by David Kirby. Read, especially, chapter 6, which outlines vaccine-maker Lily's own warning about thimerosal.

If you can stomach more, I'd next read Raising a Vaccine-Free Child, by Wendy Lydall. While it looks like a simple book, it's actually well researched and gives some interesting statistics. For instance, in 1976 in Britain the vaccination rate for whooping cough dropped from 76% to 42%, because there had been publicity of bad side effects from the vaccine. The medical community expected that the drop in the vaccination rate would make the next whooping cough epidemic come sooner, as well as expecting it to be worse. However, the disease followed the usual timing of its natural cycle of virulence. Again, the medical community expressed surprise that the epidemic did not come sooner. Yet there were also fewer cases and fewer deaths during this epidemic. The much lower vaccination rate of 42% made no difference to the long term decline of whooping cough, which had been happening for a hundred years.

And lastly, I highly recommend watching the DVD, Vaccines: What CDC Documents and Science Reveal, by Dr. Sherri Tenpenny. Well worth the $26 bucks.

In the end, whether you and I believe mass immunization is a good thing or bad, it's going to be—should be—a personal decision. However, I personally resent that the majority of people in our culture eat and live in such a way that the only only solution for them *is* herd immunity. I don't mind that they have low immunities from their lifestyles, or that they don't grasp the diet/disease, diet/symptom connection, or that they don't get that no amount of some lab's concocted formula is going to replace learning how to eat and live in a way that builds strong immunity. I do mind, however, that laws then get written up that force the rest of us to inject our bloodstream with crap that my own body doesn't need.
