Re: anyone

" I think a narcissist is arrested in that development and never outgrows that "I AM " factor that a baby has."

Babies could concievably be defined as "consumate narcissists," but I believe that the comparison to an adult narcissist isn't applicable. Babies cry because they are hungry, uncomfortable, or in need of tangible human affection. Over time, they learn that they can displease adults or other human beings and they enter into a phase to please others, regardless of the motives. An emotionally healthy child will evolve into a being that will seek comfort and protection for him/herself, as well as offer comfort and protection for others. They will allow themselves to feel empathy, pity, sympathy, and genuine support for another human being.

An adult narcissist, on the other hand, does not recognize other human beings as peers within their species. Another human being holds no more importance to a narcissist than a mailbox flag. That's the difference.
