Re: Getting off of Xanax and AF recovery failure

Hi, Aerose!

I just recently made this connection too.
I've been withdrawing from xanax for a year now and every time I reduce it it would trigger severe crashes.

I believe AF and benzo withdrawal are parts of the same mechanism. They both involve the HPA axis and what happens is that benzo WD acts like stimulant on the adrenal glands causing crashes.

Benzo drugs can very well be the only cause of someone's AF in my opinion. And they will never allow a recovery process to even start because they constantly trigger the fight or flight response. It's a nightmare actually.

I know exactly what you are going through.

I have no idea what to do about it either... I thought I could deal with the AF first and then taper off xanax but it just doesn't work that way...
And I can't get off of xanax cause I'm so weak...

I'm amber19 on BB. Just joined
