Re: Getting off of Xanax and AF recovery failure
Hey Amber,
well I'm still tapering, and almost done. I started out at 1.0 mg of xanax before going into detox, then because of the time off (almost 6-7 weeks) I was advised to start on less so I began at .0625 or a little over 1 0.50 tab per day, since my body had already been super sensitized. I did switch from xanax to klonapin so as to get away from the short half life of xanax sending me into continual tolerance wds.
I actually read everything I could about both Ashtons method and Jana's but opted for the low and slow, and more pain free approach. I really disliked the idea of reading so many people doing the cut and suffer methods then jumping off, and continuing to be sympomatic! with Jana's approach there is no jumping off, you taper to 0 and then you are well.
When I heard about the water titration vs milk (for solubility since alot of benzos but not all, are fat soluable) that clinched it There are many on BB I'm sure who have helpful things to say, but Ive found it always seems to lag behind what I learn on BDR. Things I've not heard anywhere else, that if ignored can derail a taper.
Please don't give up hope, ever, you will get off these drugs, Im just offering up my experience so you have a more balanced picture of what you might expect using Ashtons vs Jana's BMT (patent pending) model. Since you are coming from a place where have not CTd (you are still on the drug right?) This will make your taper much easier, and much less sympomatic.
No matter which way you decide to go, I really want to wish you well, I know exactly where your at and would like to help if I can. Jana's site is called
http://www.benzodetoxrecovery.com
if you'd like to just peruse its pages, and learn more. There is never any charge for help, and the community there are VERY helpful and compassionate,
