Re: Getting off of Xanax and AF recovery failure
Hey Amber
I think youll need to change to valium definitely...1mg of xanax is about 20-30mg of valium I think, but check that first! Although I had a horrific experience, I cold turkeyed remember, youll be doing a proper taper. The tritation method might work better as of the gentleness of it. I think your going to be tapering for over a year if you do it properly, but dont be scared, you can totally do it, and youll have the additional support with correct nutrition and the lipo C.
Yes its scary how WD and adrenal crashes are so similar, its actually got me thinking a lot about this lately. I think because of people like Dr Lam we put to much emphasis on our adrenals being the root of everything...the CNS can becoming damaged from a stressful event, not sleeping etc and that involves the pituitary, the thyroid etc I sometimes think that pumping up the adrenals is seldom productive, there is so much more to it.
Also dont be taken in by Lams scaremongering! the crashes etc I dont think are weakening ones body..I mean that physco that is Dr Wilson of NB classes them as healing crisis! You may of crashed because of the vitamin C, I was crashing all the time with the megadosing, it made me FAR FAR worse in the long run.
I think we have to be honest, you are going to have crash like symptoms when you reduce your dosages...but im talking reducing them like 0.25 with a set of digital scales and a good pill cutter, the valium also has a longer half life so that will help. I WISH i was told to taper..but god I didnt even know what was happening till I had had a month of siezures and convulsions.
But youre right, good things do come out of bad things. The benzo trip has finally made me stop, slow down and start taking care of myself properly. Also the first time in nearly three years my mind is clear, I actually feel optimistic and happy and cant wait to heal...I never felt like that once when I was being pumped full of pharmacueticals or relying on clowns like Dr Lam or Wilson to fix me up with magic potions they sell! I would suggest though getting a hair test done, dont listen to the supplement suggestions, but you might find you have high calcium and low magnesium. Ive realised its part of the reasons people go on benzos in the first place. Itll show you what nutrients you are deficient in so you can amp up them up...also magnesium oil was literally the greatest thing to me during acute withdrawal and still is.
Yes the withdrawal and crashes make any excercise near impossible without invoking either a panic/adrenaline attack or putting you on a death bed...you might find you can only do meditation and breathing excercises for a while. But dont let it worry you, this is something you, we, have to go through. Its so tough, and you probably wont be the same person at the end of it, but youll be new and improved with your brain back! I found I have lost a lot of my life through this illness, and I will probably lose a lot more over the next year, but to be well again, it is worth it, and then the next years I can rebuild it with more energy and happiness. I cannot wait till I got back to my Karate dojo and jump out of an airplane again.
Oh I dont think youll have permanent damage! Dont worry like that, there are people that are like 60 and have been on benzos for thirty years that came out fine :)
I will totally check out those breathing links, thankyou! So two choices...long term taper, or short term? Have a chat with those on benzo buddies and start getting that crap out of your system, honestly, although im suffering everyday, its the best thing I ever did :)
