The person who replies here is talking about urine that is kept for months in a closed bottle, so that the ammonia concentrates.

Typically, in UT, the urine is left with the top not screwed on tight, or open a crack, so that the ammonia escapes as the urine ages.

I don't know from personal experience, but perhaps very old urine loses its ammonia content. I'll let you know in a few months :)
