Re: First day of 2nd fast I feel absolutely awful....
Lying in the sun can be the best thing you do to make yourself feel better. Do some deep breathing while you are out there and try to put your body and mind at rest.
I must agree with the others that it is not a good idea to take supplements while water fasting. The chemicals can react quite differently in a fasting body than they would in a body that is being fed.
Here are a few suggestions based on my experiences as a very toxic person attempting to cleanse through fasting:
1. Make your fast open ended. If you cannot reach the ideal date you hopped for, do not feel guilty or like a failure. If your liver or colon is badly congested, or if you are dealing with something like Candida or parasites, then you have a lot of toxic build up to deal with. Chances are you will feel much worse before you begin to feel better. If this proves to be true in your case commit to a series of short (3-5 days) fasts instead of a single long one. Use the time between fasting to deal with the colon, liver, and any
parasite problems. It took me months of short fasts just to be able to complete my first Master Cleanse, and three Master Cleanses before I could do a simple three day water fast. I was very toxic, plus was injured and had some serious health problems. I had to go slowly, although I had done
Water Fasting off and on for years.
2. Sip your water slowly throughout the day. Never drink large amounts of water at one time. You can drink up to a
quart of water with a little fresh lemon juice or raw apple cider vinegar in it. This will not compromise your fast and will add minerals. Remember-just a little lemon juice or ACV.
3. Do not try to squelch episodes of vomiting or diarrhea, this indicates an immediate need to get rid of toxins. Allow it to happen. However, do not use any form of laxative when water fasting. If you feel too bad, try a simple saline enema. Any herb, drug or supplement used when fasting can cause a different and potentially dangerous side effect to a fasting body in full ketosis.
4. You can do a detox bath with
Epsom Salt or baking soda, but NEVER use hot water. Make the water comfortably warm but not hot, do not soak for more than twenty minutes. Hot water plus fasting can result in fainting spells due to rapid changes in blood pressure.
Water fasting is a wonderful tool for cleansing, ridding the body of toxic substances and as a pathway to healing. However, it is also a serious step that can have consequences when done incorrectly. Above all, be careful, never try to rush or accelerate things and listen to your body. Not only is every individual different, every fast will be different. Trust that your body is doing what it needs to do to heal, but also be very aware about putting too much stress on it. It takes years to lose health through toxicity, and it will take a while to heal through fasting. Patience is your greatest virtue when water fasting.
