My mom is dying sick with possible TB.
In September while on IV fluids she became unconscious and we admitted her in KIMS.
Doc (neuro) advised for meningitis diagnosis and report showed suggestive of chronic minigitis, she treated with AKT 4, oflox with assistance with Doc (pulmonologist).
She had a good response for AKT4 initially, but after 2 months use she developed problem in vision. Then pulmonologist advised to stop AKT 4 and we started R-cinex 600mg, Rotacap (Dec 2011).
In the month of January she developed a lymph node, but they thought it’s a cold abysis and tried treating with anti-biotics, for which there was no response and we went for FNAC culture, Ultrasound Neck, CT Neck the reports for which suggested (T*)
Then doctors suggested that we go for 2nd line medicines.
We approached another doc for a second opinion, who diagnosed atypical microbacterium and treated for 2 months (Feb and March) with medicines (*), and advised for lymph biopsy which suggested (*) but there was no response.
**We also went for FNAC culture which suggested that there was resistance to Rifampicin
Then we approached a Senior Pulmonologist at Yashoda who again diagnosed atypical microbacterium and suggested that we use the below medicines.
KANAMAC injection (kanamycin)
MACBUTIN 300mg (rifabutin)
CLARIBID 500mg (clarithromycin)
MCIN 400mg
SOLONEX 300 mg (isoniazid)
After using the above medicines from April - till date, there’s again a new lymphnode emerged and also the blood HB levels came down to 7.
Then doctor suggested us to stop using MACTBUTIN, CLARIBID / CELEX OD, just ruling the cause of drug induced problems, and suggested that we take 2 units of blood and 2 units of albumin, which we took after getting admitted in yashoda.
He also advised that for FNAC ** and to repeat the CBP after 2 weeks…and based on the result he said we need to go for Bone marrow test????
Can you guys suggest, If we are moving in the right track based on you experiences, we are totally exhausted with our brains with medicines not responding.
