A few days ago I picked up vitamin C powder (as ascorbic acid).
On day 1, I put approx. 5 grams of it into 2 qts of distilled water, and consumed it in the course of the day.
And no, there was no diarrhea; my bowel tolerance appeared to be unlimited.
On day 2 I put approx. 10 grams of vitamin C into 2 qts of distilled water, and consumed it in the course of the day.
It tasted a bit sour, but didn't feel like it was improper or wrong.
And again, there was no diarrhea. Again, my bowel tolerance appeared to be unlimited.
However, (on day 2) I developed an almost instant sore throat, hoarseness, a raspy voice, lots of mucous, a temperature of 102 deg.F. -- that is most of the symptoms of the common cold -- in spite of the fact that I generally eat well, do work out, don't drink/smoke/eat sugar. I'm not a coffee drinker, and had had no exposure to cold and/or dampness.
And, no, I never seem to get the common cold.
This was my first one in the last 20 years.
Did I do something wrong?
