It is Trapper’s SSKI w/mag that gave me the most benefit. I’m out of it now and back to taking only the 50 mg of Iodoral. And although I know the Iodoral is helping me long term I don’t feel the immediate benefit of ”relief” that I felt when I added an additional 450 mg (more or less) of Trappers SSKI w/ Mag. More on that after I start back on the SSKI w/mag and see my symptoms again improve :-)

 Hot compresses will definitely help. Also have her massage the area lightly and frequently. It is important that she keeps the milk flowing so she needs to either continue breastfeeding or at least pump the milk out. Anti-inflammatories such as licorice root and yucca root can be used internally to help reduce the pain without affecting the milk. I don’t know if I can really be of any help as I have always been able to clear any blocked ducts before they got too serious. Hopefully my advice doesn’t conflict with other’s.. I always tried to feed as much as possible off that side, massage quite firm in the area of the blockage and express in the shower, drink lots of water and try to go to bed if possible. Oxalates should not pass through the milk, especially since it binds with calcium and other substances forming insoluble complexes. It really sounds more like a flora issue. Normally babies get some flora from the milk and more from the skin itself. If the breast is being washed before feeding you could be washing away some of this flora. You could take some probiotic powders and apply it around the nipple before breast feeding to increase the flora in her digestive system.  The lack of flora could be interfering with the digestion of the sugar in the breast milk.   [End]

Hi, I had breast cancer 7 years ago in the left breast. I had a mastectomy and reconstruction: an implant and reduction and ’lift’ on the right breast.
