well.. my opinion, yet again.
if you are the religious type, prayer is probably a good thing. i would never say it wasn't.
prayer isn't going to change things. i will say it again, your wife must want to change things herself. there is only so much god can do - he did give us free will for a reason.
another thing, after all of the thousands and thousands of prayers sent out to protect my brother, he was still killed in iraq, just as many many other soldiers and innocent civilians are daily. do i blame god and think that he just wasn't listening? not at all. that's just not how it works. some things are as they are, and there is nothing that prayer or our wishes can do to change it. now, the prayer is to find comfort.
you sound religious, is your wife? maybe if religion gives you comfort it will for her as well. personally, i think there is something more to it, something even deeper. i don't think she's going to find herself or change her ways through religion, but, no one can say that for sure. if something about it makes her think about herself and her actions, then great... i also must mention here that my parents are very religious, my mom does claim to find comfort in god and she regulary attends bible study and they are both big on prayer... and things are still not good at ALL. keep up your religion if it helps you, but also i don't personally believe in relying soley on god, we have to make our way ourselves, and use the gifts and resources god gave us to do so. he can provide the push, we have to take it further...
okay, i'm done.. god bless.
