Had the NIGHT THING TOO!!!

Okay Lusty, you are in luck! I read your story and could have written it myself.
The night thing gets better over time. I had the palpations, breathing trouble, revved up feeling and seemed to get even more wired-up whenever I layed down to rest. I felt so alone during this scary time, but I did get through it. I'm still on Ativan at bedtime, but have been operating at 80-90% for a few months after a year of severe symptoms.

The whole bedtime thing became a living nightmare for me. I started to make changes and took the ATIVAN!!!! Maybe you need a different dosage for a few weeks. Ask your doc how much you can take at bedtime. Its like you have to beat the game by taking extra special care of yourself for months and pay particular attention to your bedtime routine. Here's the changes I made to create a new bedtime routine:

-move the tv and other electronics out of the bedroom--too easy to shuffle channels when you need your brain to rest.
-take 800mg magnesium 15 mins before bedtime.
-take a bath or shower before bedtime to mentally "wash" off the day and stop pondering your symptoms of the day.
-read before falling asleep while waiting for the Ativan to kick-in.
-try to do some form of mild exercise in the evening. I walk the dog. Gets me in touch with the neighborhood, gardens, ect...takes my mind of the symptoms.
-put a drop of lavendar essential oil on a tissue and tuck it in your pillow to help you relax.
-don't take on any projects or challenges after dinner, just start winding down for the night.
-Be ASLEEP by 10pm. See Dr. Wilson's website for more on that. I just ordered his book. Sleep is so important. You need more sleep than usual for a few months. Find a way to get it. Herbal stuff just isn't strong enough when your adrenals are fatigued. I had to move past the "I don't want to take a perscription" stage to get a good night's sleep. Dont' beat yourself up over it. You don't need it for the rest of your life, just a few months until things get balanced.

I know it seems like a lot of work, but your health is a project you must work on constantly. You will get better. It does take time. Get some sleep!

Hope this helps. Goodnight.
