Re: Hogwash. Prolotherapy can be safe and effective.

I too have had Prolotherapy at Dr. Reeve's office in KC. Everything you said happened, the pillows, the monitor on my finger, the prayer, ect. I was very impressed with him. I first had prolotherapy done in Clearwater, FL at the Florida Spine Institute by Dr. Torres back in 1997 for a loose sacrilliac (spelling?) joint from having kids and degenerative discs in L4 and L5. I was so bad I could barely walk without pain and I would wake up stiff in the morning. I also could not sit on the bleachers and watch my son play soccer for very long without feeling stiff when I stood up. I remember seeing an ad in the paper "Walk without pain." I immediately knew that's where I needed to be; I had tried chiropractors and physical therapy. I wanted a cure not something to cover up my pain and I did NOT want surgery. Dr. Torres used a different method (west coast method started out of California) using a floroscope with fewer injections. They used dextrose as well, 17% solution. I went back about every year and 1/2. I saw results immediately. I moved to the midwest about 2 years ago and needed to find somewhere closer to Nebraska for my prolo. It had been about 2 1/2 years since my last treatment and I could tell I was needing therapy again. Dr. Reeves uses the other method of prolo so I am curious to see which one helps me more. He uses more injections but the solution he used was 12%. He also has a 25& solution of dextrose that is available. If I need to go back I will look into the 25% solution. Eventually they will be doing prolotherapy on degenerated discs as well and I will definitely have that done. Just wanted to let you know I am another success story and am glad to know I went to the same doctor you did in KC. I'm sure there are a lot of quacks out there; I think that was Angela's problem.
