Re: Prolotherapy and it's dangers
SheRa42,
I was going to try prolotherapy as a last resort because I've pretty much tried everything else for my problem. Was diagnosed with trochanteric bursitis 42 years ago, & have been to so many docs I can't remember their names. Have had at least 8 cortisone shots, surgery to remove bursa & lengthen ileotibial band, no help. Tried acupuncture, went to a physiatrist, you get the picture. I have constant pain in my back, which I can live with, but its the sharp stabbing pains I get on the outside of my upper left leg I can't deal with. The pain is intermittent, which makes it all the harder to diagnose. Have had a couple EMG'S done( like medieval torture) & it showed nothing. My thought is that there is a nerve getting pinched somehow from inflammation or when my SI joint gets out of whack, which happens frequently. I lost my job in February & the bouts of pain have been getting worse every year. Took early retirement because I can't work full time anymore, but its not enough to pay the bills, so I have to do something! Ended up in the ER twice last week & was transferred to the hospital cuz the pain was so bad. Was getting dilaudid & toradol IV push every 4 hours & that didn't even kill the pain, but did dull it enough to make it bearable. I so want to try the prolotherapy, but insurance won't cover, & I'm pretty much broke. After reading your reply to Angela I think I have to try it & hope it helps, anything is better than this pain!! Hope things are still going ok for you, & thanks for listening to my problems.
