Re: Going to heaven when we die.

Lip service means you do not mean what you say. This has been done by some who have said a sinner's prayer for salvation, but they were not saved because the prayer did not come with any meaning. It did not come from their innermost being. They thought the prayer had some special words that would save them. There was no true repentance. They did not really want to follow Christ. They just wanted to escape hell. God does not accept this.

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 3:14-15 New International Version "If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved even though only as one escaping through the flames." Anyone who gets to heaven who comes only as one escaping through the flames, it could be said that they come with the smell of smoke. I don't believe they will have a real fragrance of smoke on them. This is just a way of describing this person. For a better understanding I suggest reading the whole chapter.

KJV says it this way: "If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."
