Riots and Protests
I stand against racism and was appalled at the death of a man by a policeman with his knee on that mans neck. However, I can’t understand why Black lives matter protestors turned to violence in the U K and turned against the police as there has been huge changes in the UK police force towards racism in fact here you could go to jail for calling someone a racist name yet burglary and fraud have moved way down the scale and there’s a strong chance here that the person committing the crime will get away with it. If I got burgled it doesn’t mean the police will attend my property as the way the police federation has been changed means that racism is at the top and fraud etc is ranked much lower as things stand. To be honest I’m sure at the moment that crime is paying for many when the old saying was crime doesn’t pay!
Here’s my next point, no one can change slavery history, what’s done is done, pulling down a bronze statue won’t change history. De-facing Winston Churchill’s statue will anger many British people. I feel what should be happening is focusing on modern day slavery, it’s rife, yet where are the protests and marches in support of modern day slaves? Are they not important? What makes them different? Is modern day slavery not the same as all slavery, this isn’t history it’s happening now..
Here’s my next point, no one is marching or protesting for the disabled. There are many people including autism that are being wrenched from their families and locked away in assessment centres for years which is a violation of their human rights because autism isn’t a mental health problem, society is not caring, it’s wrong to wrench a young child from a loving home and lock that child away with huge consequences. Just imagine if you was a child or young adult and was locked away, how would it make you feel? It would make me bloody angry.
Here’s my next point, a young Palestinian adult man with low functioning autism was shot dead by Israel soldiers, he was innocent, he didn’t understand and had trouble communicating and they killed him for it. Is that not important to protest about? Where’s the outcry and marches, this isn’t history this is now, again we are living in a very uncaring world.
As a person and a Christian I stand against racism but demonstrating against history here in the U K can’t change history, if all those people really cared, would they have shown violence against the police force when many officers got injured, the world needs to get its priorities right. Yes demonstrate against the death of a man because he was killed by a policeman who knelt on his neck but keep it peaceful, don’t turn on people who have already changed the way they police and stop de-facing Winston Churchill’s statue otherwise you lose the respect of people who were in support of the cause but sickened to see the violence and the uncaring attitude.
Here’s my next point, isn’t corona virus still out there? We are only suppose to be meeting in groups of six and social distance. People will die if the virus is spread and those protestors were not social distancing, doesn’t other people’s lives matter? Protest if you like but not so you put other people’s lives in danger.
