Re: Riots and Protests
I wasn't born into christianity either. I was born into a cult which was a works-based religion and opposed to the gospel. It wasn't until my twenties that I began to learn true biblical christian beliefs.
But from my cult experience, one good thing I think that came from that is that I no longer just trusted what someone was telling me the scriptures say. I wanted to study it myself too, which we really didn't do in the cult I was in and that's how cults have the power they do, no one really studies for themselves but just believes what they are told. Of course we can also misintrepret the scritpures ourselves too, so it's good to prayfully study the scriptures, asking God to reveal his truth to us as we read and study, and it's a lifetime process so I would never pretend I had all the answers. I feel like I'm behind myself, and that there has been lots of wasted time in my life that would have been better spent learning God's word. But the most important part of God's word is knowing the true gospel, which even a child can understand, and in a single short message. But all of God's word is important and the more we know, the better I believe.
