Re: Possible liver flukes and bad breath

What makes you think you really have contracted liver flukes without some sort of definitive diagnostics?

-> Do you routinely eat raw or under cooked fish or cow's liver?
-> Do you drink water of questionable purity?
-> Do you wade in rice paddies in Laos?
-> Do you swim in ponds contaminated by cow or sheep feces?

A mature fluke in the liver or intestines produces 20,000+ eggs a day which are excreted into the bowel. The best diagnostic methodology is microscopic examination of trichrome stained slides properly prepared from stool samples in a medical laboratory specialized in parasitology. The Fasciola Hepatica eggs are large in comparison to many parasite ova and have very distinctive identifing charactoristics when viewed with a microscope. Any licensed laboratory technologist who cannot identify them should be fired!
