Re: Blastocystis H. and Dientamoeba F?
You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped, right? So don't waste your energy, even if it is your mother. I've learned to offer help only once.
As for doctors and negative tests, if you had only one positive result, it should be enough for any even half-witted doctor. They should know how d. fragilis got it's name - it is so fragile that it disintegrates within minutes after leaving your body. B. hominis and others usually hide in liver and other parts, so they are hard to find too. Most people who have those
parasites have positive tests maybe one out of 5 to 10 times. Other times they are "perfectly healthy".
You are right that possibility of re-infection is great if you live with your mother or are frequently with your friend. The route of transmission is mostly fecal-oral route, meaning whoever gave you the
parasites didn't wash their hands well after using the bathroom. In one of my posts here on this forum (
parasites support) I gave a detailed explanation about that too. Just read it all.
I also have a strong suspicion that people who have it bad may have parasites in their mouth. Mouth is full of bacteria and protozoa love to feed on bacteria and can hide in gums causing gingivitis. So kissing, sharing foods and utensils and so on may be a mode of transmission as well.
