Well, guess it's time to try a new strategy, she has not been showing up for sessions, but shows up at other times. Not to talk, but to do homework, sit, relax, sometimes cry. The last few times, she has asked if she can come by, or I will schedule times for her, just to have her no show.
So I'm thinking about a tough love approach. Since I have other students in need, that I am not able to see because of my setting time aside for her. I feel bad about this, not sure if this is the right approach, since I don't want her to feel abandoned. Yet with other students who need help, I don't feel this is right, fair, or appropriate to put them off in order to wait for someone who isn't ready to talk. I will tell her my thoughts and feelings on this and see what she says. I hope this doesn't backfire, because she is definitely making poor choices, from drugs to fighting. As always, I am definitely willing to listen to suggestions. Tweet
