To date, 3 siblings in a family of 4 (who are also close family friends) have been hit by an MS diagnosis. One (the eldest) has already died, the 2nd gets around on crutches, and the 3rd recently diagnosed. The 4th sibling is now living in dread of the same fate.

I've advised them as much as I can, but I've seen nothing in these threads that's comparable to the alternative cures for cancer, which is quite surprising. Apparently, the best they can hope for is delayed progression, which is not very inspiring.

I've sent them various links that might help, but I want to pose a direct question here. Is there a single bona fide sufferer who has found a concrete solution to this condition?

  According to recent theories,(aside from the common lyme illness diagnosis for similar conditions) contrary to the established understanding, this is an example of the proliferation and destructive actions of the L-Form varient organisms aka mycoplasma aka non cell walled organisms. Since they have no membrane or a quite different membrane structure, they cannot be discovered by the often used conventional lab testing means, thus, conventionally their deleterious actions have been mislabeled (autoimmune disease), as being caused by the bodies immune system's destructive capabilities acting on the structures it is intended(designed) to protect (ignore).
  
  (and in analysing many conventional Antibiotic treatments lack of success or in the worsening of conditions in similar and different diagnoses, treating with many conventional Antibiotics can increase this and other untargeted organism's populations)
  
  They are relatively everpresent, (this is the Science of pleomorphism) but in healthy circumstances normally dormant, becoming active from a lowered systems voltage(infection(w unpainful dental infections being an often missed source of serious trouble), radiation,toxins,system congestion,circuitry damage ect) causing depletion of oxygen, thus the affected systems proper and efficient functioning is compromised from the lowered oxygen availability and utilization, and the anaerobic state increases and allows the dormant organisms to become active and w re to the multiple sclerosis diagnosis the organisms in using their enzymatic processing, destroy the nervous system.
  
  (Another bit of important data is that people who have high levels of the metabolite Uric Acid, do not seem to be susceptible to MS. Even gout conditions of very high blood concentrations of UA seem to prevent MS actions)
  
  Perhaps hyperbaric oxygen would be the easiest quickest therapy but the overall situation would need to be investigated. Hidden infections, toxins, any of the factors that lead to the low voltage in the area experiencing the tissue destruction.
  
  This may also be a case where the sq wave zapper would be an easy inexpensive treatment, not for its particularly considered but unproven Antibiotic ability (tho that action may be true there is little evidence of it yet), but for its voltage infusing possibilities. The regular voltage infusing devices are much more expensive $2500 and up. There are also the natural electron donor sources, which tho may not be quick enough to rely on exclusivly, like physical activity, sunlight, earthing, water fasting, diet upgrading ect ect while working to find the culprit causing the lowered voltage condition.
  
  Part of the delima in nervous system nerve circuitry diseases is that these structures are not easily interfaced with. Many viruses, like HSV and lyme, hide within them, and when a treatment seems succesfull, the organism may be retreating into specificly congenial spaces and or morphing into a dormant state. Since these nerve systems, because they are not as actively aerobic or part of the active systems immune behavior because of their design, are conventient locations for the organisms, so once this type of destruction is creating symptoms, we need to work quickly and efficiently with appropriate methodology to reverse the breakdown, due to the specifics of the disease conditions.

    I have a hard time excluding a familial (ie genetic) connexion tho coz of the implausibly high rate of incidence within a single family - 3 out of 4 siblings so far. Which then begs the question, if there is a genetic 'predisposition' to MS, will any alternative protocols work for them?
    
    One obvious answer must be whether any of your suggestions are capable of reversing at least some of the damage in the worst-affected sibling who is now almost immobile. That would be one sure-fire way of determining efficacy of these alternative protocols, even if it only has anecdotal value. What, if any of your suggestions, do you think offers him the best chance of seeing tangible results?

(too many people, including myself, report successes using the zapper sq wave treatments, evan if the activating Science or effects, can not yet be accurately described).
        
        The Scenar or the Biomodulator, two of the of electron inducing devices,(using micro voltaged Bi-Phasic Sine Forms, which mimic our bodies running voltage well) would be even better choices for upgrading our system to recover its presently diseased ability, compromised by the low oxygen affect due to the low voltage condition, but for their expense if that is an issue.
        
        You understand HBOT since you have been in the medical field and the added info is that Tennant found that the length of treatment time for success, is only as much as it takes to raise the functioning of the system, not for the much longer lengths of time often prescribed.
        
        Rife technology is a different tact all together and one that is commonly misrepresented. It is an Antibiotic methodology and isn't based on the bodies electricity or in feeding the body electricity as the Scenar and the Biomodulator are.
        
        As you may know, it uses a Radio Frequency carrier sine wave, combined with a particular to the organism MOR (mortal oscillatory rate) sine wave, which isn't as widely applicable as many surmise, since Rife only found and used a dozen or so.
        
        The oft quoted Rife audio harmonics frequencies, are also quite questionable, and the idea that Rife used them knowingly doesn't bear out in an investigation of the topic.

        Tho R Rife surmised and tried a number of supposed and very possibly "healthy frequencies", the evidence of their being efficacious cant be based oh his research, since soon after the loss of legally using the high hertz radio frequency format and the disillusion with people working with him, he retired from researching.
        
        Insufficient alternative diets and protocols aren't usually enough to quell the power of the enzymatic action buried deep in the nerve sheaths ands many who find relief of general symptoms often don't have the exacting symptomology that is the diagnosis of MS.
        
        Its so hard to reverse that many conventional and alternative Docs think it is a systemic disease, since they aren't yet aware of the voltage, oxygen and L-Forms relationship.
        
        I think the gold standard is a wholistic protocol, where we combine finding what has lowered the voltage of the powerful body systems, working in eliminating that(assuring detox and elimination and investigating any possible hidden dental area infections that powerfully lower our immune system's ability), feeding the body the necessary nutriants, minerals, elements and compounds, while feeding the over all body and specific organs if determined, voltage, from a device of which ever variety that can be most quickly and easily obtained. Thus ultimately freeing up the powerful and natural immune power ability to be successful in eradicating the nerve sheath destruction factors.
        
        Certainly healthy raw food is a good source of voltage but if our systems are too compromised, no food can be evan better, using juices of chlorophyll, or strictly water.
        
        As you know, the magic elixir is the system we all ready inhabit. So the real gold standard is getting it back in order.

        I take your point, but my only problem with the environmental angle is that I would expect a 'cluster' of cases affecting others in the same area. I'm not aware of any epidemiological reports or studies that confirm such a distribution of incidence.
        
        On the other hand, if the entire family were, for example, accidentally sprayed by pesticide/s as children on a day out (the family lived fairly close to a rural environment), then conceiveably we would have a prime suspect that could explain the high rate of incidence within one family.
        
        At the very least, I think the jury is still out re. probable cause, but I'm more concerned with finding a cure for them than worrying too much about how they got to this state.

Hello Forum..

Ok, being an Admin on one of the FaceBook pages.. some time back I posted my own article about SUICIDE. One guy contacted that FB page in order to find Help from Doctors to die quick... He tried to make it happen by drinking couple of Hundreds Sleeping pills but Doctors Saved him and he turned to that page. I am Extremely HAPPY that I saw that post of his even Not being an admin of that page by then. So I answred him and tried to talk Sense to him..

Okay guys, this Kickstarter is to raise funds to make a documentary about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, whose symptoms (as most of you know) are very similar to adrenal fatigue. The main difference is that Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome usually begins virally, and adrenal fatigue is hormonal, but I believe that Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome often has a hormonal element and AF often has a viral element... So they are sisters.

I've been visiting the Facebook page of this documentary often lately and have discovered several people who have been bed ridden for over ten years (unable to even get bathed in the bath). This is beyond a travesty! Please, at the very least, watch this beautiful video (truly it is) and share with others.

The woman who is making the documentary has Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome herself and must raise $50,000 in order for the project to get funded. Lets make a valiant effort to make the energy that she's used so far worthwhile.

  I tend to think of a diagnosis of Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome as similar to a diagnosis of fever. It describes the symptom but the causes are diverse. Once we understand all of the things that cause CFS symptoms, CFS itself may become an obsolete medical term. You may simply be diagnosed with "chronic virus X infection" or "type Y immune disregulation", etc.
  
  I'm not discouraging the current use of the term CFS, but just clarifying it. Saying it's viral is not entirely accurate.

  I remember that you were also bedridden. Once you figured that Potassium loss was the culprit, and you started supplementing, did you recover soon? How much energy would you say you have now, compared to the time before adrenal fatigue?
  
  I've never been bed bound, so I'm just trying to understand. I have lost a lot of energy, but have never been tired enough to stay in bed. I do take a nap or two in the day - without these, I'd crash. Do you take naps?
  
  Overall, ME looks a lot worse than adrenal fatigue. Few people from this group are actually bed bound. Whereas with ME, it seems to be the norm.

    You know I'm an artist and am very right brained, so I've never been much of an advocate of labels and diagnosises. I prefer to think about the body as a whole and the complexity of it and its interactions doesn't make putting these broad labels on anyone's unique combination of causes and symptoms feel like an answer to me. But humans like to categorize things to simplify, understand and feel like they aren't alone so, I guess I will give you the CDC's definition of CFS:
    
    CFS Case Definition
    Overview
    Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a debilitating and complex disorder characterized by intense fatigue that is not improved by bed rest and that may be worsened by physical activity or mental exertion. People with Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome often function at a substantially lower level of activity than they were capable of before they became ill. The cause or causes of Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome have not been identified, and no specific diagnostic tests are available. Therefore, a Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome diagnosis requires three criteria:
    
    1.The individual has had severe chronic fatigue for 6 or more consecutive months that is not due to ongoing exertion or other medical conditions associated with fatigue (these other conditions need to be ruled out by a doctor after diagnostic tests have been conducted)
    
    2.The fatigue significantly interferes with daily activities and work
    
    3. The individual concurrently has 4 or more of the following 8 symptoms:
    post-exertion malaise lasting more than 24 hours
    unrefreshing sleep
    significant impairment of short-term memory or concentration
    muscle pain
    pain in the joints without swelling or redness
    headaches of a new type, pattern, or severity
    tender lymph nodes in the neck or armpit
    a sore throat that is frequent or recurring
    These symptoms should have persisted or recurred during 6 or more consecutive months of illness and they cannot have first appeared before the fatigue.
    
    Other Symptoms Accompanying CFS
    While the following symptoms are not part of the CFS case definition and do not contribute to the diagnosis of CFS, some patients may also have these additional symptoms:
    
    abdominal pain
    alcohol intolerance
    bloating
    chest pain
    chronic cough
    diarrhea
    dizziness
    dry eyes or mouth
    earaches
    irregular heartbeat
    jaw pain
    morning stiffness
    nausea
    night sweats
    psychological problems (depression, irritability, anxiety, panic attacks)
    shortness of breath
    skin sensations, such as tingling
    weight loss
    
    Based on that definition, it seems to me like anyone who has low cortisol, but not low enough to have Addison's would fit into the category of CFS. And I'm saying that only because western medicine does not consider sub clinical Addison's (ie. low cortisol AF) as a diagnosis and thus would fit into 1.
    
    I had pretty much all of those symptoms when I was bedridden. What helped me was a chiropractor realigning my skeletal structure. I watch videos of others with CFS who are bedridden and wonder if many of them would benefit from applied kinesiology chiropractic like I did. I had what looked like seizures, throbbing all over my body, paralysis, throat pain, felt like I couldn't breathe.... In some of the videos that I have seen, these people look just like how I looked.
    
    I don't know, I definitely agree with tpno2005. We have a multitude of causes for the condition, with a similar set of symptoms as the result.
    
    It seems like adrenal fatigue is a subset of CFS in that "adrenal fatigue" is speaking of the adrenals specifically and "CFS" is speaking of everyone with a set of symptoms.
    
    But I wrote that CFS often begins virally because that's how some people experience it's onset. Nevertheless, I've read "Recovery From CFS: 50 stories" from cover to cover many times and every person in the book had a unique set of solutions for their return to health. This is true for all illnesses though. Everything is so interconnected and as they say, "there is more than one way to skin a cat."

      Some things I have noticed over the years dealing with all this trauma, was when i first crashed back in 2009 after to much backpacking and Karate training, I suffered from CFS. I was sleeping more than I was awake, I had all the symptoms you mentioned Beth above, and over a period of 18 months, with no special diet, no supplements, hells I was still smoking shed loads back then and doing the occasional recreational drugs, I recovered and went back to a normal life.
      
      It was only when I went back to work full time and experiences lots of stress, did I start my slippery slope into AF, and being locked in stress mode. Over the next three years thast become what we know as 3C/3D AF, completely HPA dysfunction. There is a massive difference between AF and Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome for me, if I could go back to the Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome days I would be more than happy!

I came across this study about wheelchairs and MS. Anyone have an opinion on this?

WATCH OUT DANGEROUS! - Controversial wheelchair study done in Italy

by Venöse Multiple Sklerose, CVI & SVI, CCSVI on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 2:47pm

A doctor in Italy has released the results of a study which claims that wheelchair use by MS patients who are unable to walk due to their condition show improved mobility and an improved quality of life.

This study has garnered great interest within the MS community in North America and around the world. In response to this interest the National MS Society has issued a statement warning people who are suffering with MS not use wheelchairs at this time. The MS Society states that there is no scientific proof that the use of wheelchairs will ultimately improve mobility and lead to an improved quality of life. A spokesman for the MS Society, Dr. Nero Oligist, says that there is no connection between wheelchair usage and improved mobility. He points out that the Italian research only looked at 65 patients and while all 65 showed significantly improved mobility after obtaining a wheelchair, the research lacks credibility as it was not done by him.

The MS Society has been under significant pressure from the MS community to look into this research. In response the Society has decided to use $2.7 million of money raised by people suffering from MS and their families to fund research into the relationship between wheelchairs and MS.

Early results from this research shows that while many MS suffers use wheelchairs, some people with other medical conditions also use wheelchairs as do a portion of the general population. This seems to cast doubt on the Italian research. In addition, there has been a case in the US where a person in a wheelchair was hit by a car and killed. This indicates the serious risk associated with wheelchair use.

The MS Society continues to use donated funds to lobby governments and the medical community against the use of wheelchairs. They have recently written a letter to the government urging them to not allow MS patients access to wheelchairs. The letter states, “Until more scientific proof is available we feel it is in the best interest of people suffering with MS that the government not fund any studies that may provide scientific proof of the effectiveness of wheelchairs.” The letter goes on to state that while wheelchairs continue to be available to people suffering from other ailments, those with MS must not be allowed to use them because the MS Society is really, really smart and should not be questioned.

Anesthesiologist Faked Data in 21 Studies

A pioneering anesthesiologist has been implicated in a massive research fraud that has altered the way millions of patients are treated for pain during and after orthopedic surgeries

Over the past 12 years, anesthesiologist Scott Reuben revolutionized the way physicians provide pain relief to patients undergoing orthopedic surgery for everything from torn ligaments to worn-out hips. Now, the profession is in shambles after an investigation revealed that at least 21 of Reuben's papers were pure fiction, and that the pain drugs he touted in them may have slowed postoperative healing.

"We are talking about millions of patients worldwide, where postoperative pain management has been affected by the research findings of Dr. Reuben," says Steven Shafer, editor in chief of the journal Anesthesia & Analgesia, which published 10 of Reuben's fraudulent papers.

Paul White, another editor at the journal, estimates that Reuben's studies led to the sale of billions of dollars worth of the potentially dangerous drugs known as COX2 inhibitors, Pfizer's Celebrex (celecoxib) and Merck's Vioxx (rofecoxib), for applications whose therapeutic benefits are now in question. Reuben was a member of Pfizer's speaker's bureau and received five independent research grants from the company. The editors do not believe patients were significantly harmed by the short-term use of these COX2 inhibitors for pain management but they say it's possible the therapy may have prolonged recovery periods.

Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., began investigating Reuben's findings last May after its chief academic officer, Hal Jenson, discovered during a routine audit that Reuben had not received approval from the hospital's review board to conduct two of his studies. Reuben "violated the trust of Baystate, the community and science," Jenson says. The story of the investigation was first reported by Anesthesiology News late last month.

Reuben, 50, has been stripped of his research and educational duties and has been on medical leave since May. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences in 1985 and did his residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. In 1991, he joined Baystate, which serves as the western campus for Tufts University School of Medicine, and has worked as a staff anesthesiologist and the director of acute pain management.

His lawyer, Ingrid Martin of Dwyer & Collora, LLP, in Boston, told ScientificAmerican.com that Reuben has cooperated with the investigation and that he "deeply regrets that all of this happened." She added that "with the [investigating] committee's guidance, he is taking steps to ensure this never happens again." She declined to answer any further questions, and Reuben did not respond to an e-mail request for comment.

Beginning in 2000, Reuben, in his now-discredited research, attempted to convince orthopedic surgeons to shift from the first generation of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to the newer, proprietary COX2 inhibitors, such as Vioxx, Celebrex, and Pfizer's Bextra (valdecoxib). He claimed that using such drugs in combination with the Pfizer anticonvulsant Neurontin (gabapentin), and later Lyrica (pregabalin), prior to and during surgery could be effective in decreasing postoperative pain and reduce the use of addictive painkillers, such as morphine, during recovery. A 2007 editorial in Anesthesia & Analgesia stated that Reuben had been at the "forefront of redesigning pain management protocols" through his "carefully planned" and "meticulously documented" studies.

Many orthopedic surgeons, however, were slow to adopt COX2 inhibitors due to animal studies that showed short-term use might hinder bone healing. Then, in 2004, Vioxx and Bextra were pulled from the market because of their link to an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes, leaving Pfizer's Celebrex as the only COX2 inhibitor available. Celebrex sales plunged 40 percent after a study that same year suggesting that it, too, posed a heart attack risk. Despite this, Reuben continued to present "findings" in research funded by Pfizer that trumpeted Celebrex's alleged benefits and downplayed its potential negative side effects.

He apparently hoped to erase doubts by persuading orthopedic surgeons to co-author papers with him based on his bogus data. In 2005 he and Evan Ekman, an orthopedic surgeon at Southern Orthopaedic Sports Medicine in Columbia, S.C., published a study on the use of Celebrex to control pain in back surgery patients. "The short-term administration of celecoxib," they wrote in the paper published in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, "results in no significant deleterious effect on bone or ligament healing or cardiovascular outcomes."

Three years later, Reuben's career would begin to unravel as Ekman began to suspect foul play. In addition to collaborating with Reuben on the now-retracted Celebrex study, Ekman agreed to review a Reuben manuscript on surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the knee. But when he asked the anesthesiologist for the name of the orthopedic surgeon on the study, Reuben ceased communication with him.

Then, last year, Ekman was invited by Pfizer to give a talk. While there, he was handed a version of the very manuscript Reuben had asked him to review, which had subsequently been published in Anesthesia & Analgesia. To his surprise, and horror, he was listed as a co-author: Reuben had forged his signature on the submission form, Ekman says.

By then, Editor in Chief Shafer had already put several Reuben manuscripts on hold after learning that Baystate had initiated a probe into the validity of his research. The investigation later identified 21 articles based on patient data that had been partially or completely doctored. Although Pfizer funded Reuben's research between 2002 and 2007, Baystate has no records of those payments and says that the research funds could have been paid directly to Reuben. Such an arrangement would be "highly unusual," Shafer notes. "It's just a little frustrating," Baystate spokesperson Jane Albert says. "I don't know how many dollars went to Dr. Reuben or his group."

Pfizer spokesperson Sally Beatty insists the grants were properly disbursed to Baystate in accordance with Pfizer policy. "Pfizer is not familiar with the records retention policies of Baystate Medical Center," she says, "However, independent investigator-initiated research grant agreements were executed between Pfizer and Baystate Medical Center." Beatty was unable to provide information on the dollar amount of the grants, but editor White says they typically range between $10,000 to $100,000.

The question is: Why did it take 12 years before a "routine audit" revealed Reuben's widespread data fabrication? "Baystate publishes about 200 [studies] every year, and of those [articles], the audit rate might only be 5 percent," Baystate's Jenson says, acknowledging that ultimately "Baystate is responsible" for making sure that research done there is properly conducted and reported. He says that the hospital has been trying to strengthen its oversight program over "the past few years" and that it is in the process of applying for accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) in Washington, D.C., which provides an independent evaluation of an organization's ethical standards and oversight. The lack of accreditation is not unusual because the nonprofit program was not established until 2001 and only recently has grown to include 159 hospitals, academic institutions and other organizations.

In hindsight, Anesthesia & Analgesia editors Shafer and White admit that it should have been a "red flag" that Reuben's studies were consistently favorable to the drugs he studied. White, who has also received drug company educational grants, says that such funding comes with "subtle pressure" to give the companies the results they want. For now, at least, neither the drug companies nor Reuben's co-authors are officially sharing in the blame, but that's expected to change. "There's a lot of responsibility to pass around," White says, "It's all being focused on Scott Reuben, but the reality is there are many other responsible parties."

    I noticed you posted this on the MS forum, after stating that it will even grow nerves!
    Theres absolutely nothing in that youtube presentation about growing nerves. And as far as the military is concerned, they are NOT currently using it to grow tissue, they have invested in it, and HOPE it will work.
    Sheesh marlene, you need to look at these things you post a little more closely!

If nerve fibers were being grown along with the tissue, then I'm sure someone would have commented on it. I heard tissue, bones,, etc, but no mention of nerves.     ORLANDO, Florida (CNN) -- Regrowing a fingertip cut off in an accident sounds like something from a futuristic movie. But with innovative technology developed by the U.S. Army, such regrowth is possible today.
    
    This remotely controlled robot, called BEAR, could help remove injured soldiers from battlefields.
    
    1 of 3 This research project and a hundred others were on display this month at the 26th Army Science Convention. Some the greatest minds in Science from around the world gathered at the four-day conference to exchange ideas and showcase collaborative projects between the Army's research laboratories, universities and partner industries.
    
    The main goal is to develop technology to make soldiers safer and more effective, said Thomas H. Killion, the Army's chief scientist.
    
    The Army's regenerative medicine study combined properties from the intestinal lining and the urinary bladder to create a regenerative substance called Extracellular Matrix.
    
    The cream-colored crystallized powder, called "magic dust," boosts the body's natural tendency to repair itself, said U.S. Army Biological Scientist Sgt. Glen Rossman. When the matrix is applied to a missing digit or limb, "the body thinks it's back in the womb," Rossman said.
    
    One civilian participated in the regenerative-medicine study after cutting off the tip of his finger in a model plane's propeller. Researchers continually applied the matrix to the wound, and after four weeks, the body grew skin and tissue to replenish the damaged area.
    
    The U.S. military branches have begun a consortium with private institutions to develop treatments for severely injured troops. With the help of grants, the Armed Forces Institute of Regenerative Medicine is studying nerve and vein transplantation, treating burns without scarring and regeneration of tissue, skin and even bone.
    
    Through both animal studies and civilian clinical trials, the institute is developing therapies for the large number of soldiers injured by improvised explosive devices and other explosives in Afghanistan and Iraq.
    
    "We are working on trying to regenerate limbs, to repair limbs and to keep them from being amputated," institute Project Director Col. Bob Vandre said.
    
    Army scientists also have developed an engineered skin substitute made in a laboratory from patients' own cells. A postage stamp-sized patch of skin could grow several times larger than the original sample. The engineered skin could then be placed over a wound or burn, protecting it from infection, and eventually cover large portions of the body that have been damaged.
    
    "Our goal is to restore the function to our wounded warriors who have given so much in battle," Vandre said.
    
    Armed Forces Institute scientists also say they also have developed a process to rebuild missing or damaged bone. A web-like tube of calcium-phosphate ceramic, called hydroxyapatite, acts as a biodegradable scaffold that is set in place of the missing bone, giving the body a platform on which to rebuild.
    
    Scientists say the scaffold allows the body to regrow its own natural tissue, bone and veins so it can support itself. Because of the complexity of the process, researchers so far have regrown only 3 centimeters of bone in clinical trials on rats, but they hope to reach 5 centimeters in two years. With the regrown bone, scientists could avoid placing titanium or other medical devices in the body.

    Of course, to apply this technology, the Army needs a way to safely remove injured soldiers from combat zones. Enter the Battlefield Extraction Assist Robot, or BEAR, a human-shaped machine with eyes, ears and arms for lifting heavy objects.
    
    Built by Vecna Technologies in association with the Army, BEAR is still a prototype. But its potential is promising. BEAR is outfitted with lights, two cameras and infrared abilities, and it can travel up to 10 mph. The device also can lift 250 pounds while balancing on its toes.
    
    Vecna robotic engineer Andrew Allen says BEAR can be remotely operated, reducing the chance of injuries to soldiers' human rescuers.
    
    "BEAR can easily be replaced; it costs money and not lives," Allen said.
    
    Robot technology has exploded in the past six years, said Army scientist John Parmentola. Robot prototypes of all kinds were on display at the conference, and about 10,000 military robots are expected to be deployed in the field in 2009.
    
    Robots can be outfitted to accomplish various tasks. One can detect 38 different chemical or biological explosives from a distance of 3 to 5 meters. The robot could be used to scan car doors or truck lids for explosives or chemical residue.
    
    Another, called Packbot, is deployed in Iraq for surveillance, reconnaissance and explosives removal. Packbot has been outfitted to react to voice commands, given remotely through an earpiece. Loud background noises do not distort the commands, because the system monitors the vibrations of the operator's jawbone.
    
    Finally, some robots come with a retractable apparatus called a Zipper Mast or Situational Awareness Mast, which can be equipped with a camera or antenna and raised to peer over walls or send radio communications.
    
    The smallest Zipper Mast is not much bigger than a coffee pot and can extend to a height of 8 feet. Designed by the U.S. Army's Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center, the larger mast is affixed to tanks and can reach heights over 30 feet.

    Colloidal silver on the other hand has been postulated to regenerate and repair damaged tissue and bones (in Robert Beck's "The Body Electric" for one). Recent Hungarian studies have even located specific silver receptors on human nerve cells.

    It starts with the song "don't worry be happy" and goes into the face of a young man. He starts telling you how happy and fulfilled he is...and then the camera pans down and you can see him sitting on a couch - with no limbs AT ALL.
    
    Next scenes are showing him as a child, in a wheelchair, having fun at the hospital, also saying at the age of 8 that he wanted to die, then older and playing golf and even SURFING and falling IN!
    
    The next is showing him giving inspirational speeches and he definitely means them as a testament to God's Love, but the part that hit (ME anyway) the most is him showing that everybody falls down.

    and he shows how hard it is for (somelike like) him to get up again - but, get up again he must - for all FALL - over and over again - but none of us FAIL as long as we GET BACK UP AGAIN...and of course they show people crying and if you're not crying already you will then...
    
    Ya know, the last two days have been quite harrowing for me, and liberating, too. I camethisclose to making a very serious error.
    
    Then, yesterday, when my husband came home from work for lunch (he'd given up on God) I started crying and telling him something I never never thought I would say to him. Ever. But it just poured out of me because I believe it.
    
    I told him that in spite of everything (WE'D been through personally) I compared his suffering to MORE than what Christ had to deal with. His eyes got SO BIG listening to me. Like he just couldn't believe what I was saying to him. But I was crying and saying things like, "but Christ was ONLY 33 when He died, and his suffering on the 'cross' was "only" 9 hours (when others lasted quite a bit longer than that) and that Jesus Himself DID pray alone three times but still got on His brethren for falling asleep - maybe He didn't realize this was supposed to happen because Christ still needed to give all the Will to God and that his suffering MUST happen and not be taken from Him. And He also said others would follow who would have to deal with EVEN MORE than He did. I told my husband Christ didn't lie, look at you - you've dealt with so much more than Christ ever thought about, but look at you - you still go to work, you still take care of US, you have NOT given up, and you are STILL a good and decent man.
    
    I showed him that video above, later on. I told him I NOW even understand his need to watch shows like Jerry Springer and told him how irreverent I GET online sometimes - because we all need that OUTLET to vent.
    
    "Jerry" is his "outlet" - it's such a bad show, but the people around here are just like Jerry's guests. I "get it" now.

Dear people!

I am working in a rehabilitation center for people with spincal cord injury and I would like to discuss here with You natural ways to cope with the typical problems of this population.

As You probably know, not too long ago a SCI meant death and only thanks to the achievements of modern medicine and the development of new materials and technologies survival with a reasonable quality of life after SCI is possible.

Does anybody of You has tried alternative/natural ways to deal with decubitus wounds, treating and avoiding urinary tract infections, reducing spasticity and in pain management??

I will be happy to read Your experiences.

If affordable, the GB-4000 is probably the Rife machine of choice. The spooky-2 is another alternative but by the time that Plasma and power amplifier is added, you are still in the $2000 to $3 ....
