Re: Beautiful CFS Documentary Kickstarter needs our support!

"The main difference is that Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome usually begins virally, and adrenal fatigue is hormonal"

Actually, the most current conception of Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome sees it as a group of similarly manifesting syndromes with various possible causes, one of which being viral.

"The pathogenesis (or the mechanisms that cause) chronic fatigue syndrome are currently unknown despite extensive research, though various possibilities have been proposed.[11] Research studies have examined and hypothesized about the possible etiological characteristics of the disease, including oxidative stress, genetic predisposition,[50] infection by viruses and pathogenic bacteria, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis abnormalities, immune dysfunction as well as psychological and psychosocial factors. Although it is unclear which factors are a cause or consequence of CFS, various models are proposed."

I tend to think of a diagnosis of Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome as similar to a diagnosis of fever. It describes the symptom but the causes are diverse. Once we understand all of the things that cause CFS symptoms, CFS itself may become an obsolete medical term. You may simply be diagnosed with "chronic virus X infection" or "type Y immune disregulation", etc.

I'm not discouraging the current use of the term CFS, but just clarifying it. Saying it's viral is not entirely accurate.
