Hi,

I have a question for long term practitioners of the five tibetans. Would really appreciate your answer :-).

In your experience, do the exercises really reverse aging, as "shown" by the incredible testimonials in PK's book? I have seen a few pictures of aging celebrities who advocate the 5 tibetans but they have gray hair and wrinkles.

So I am curious if anyone on this forum has actually experienced reversal of aging, including the typical claims of hair color returning to normal and skin getting healthier and younger?

I have read the book and practiced the 5 exercised for a few months. But I stopped because of a tailbone injury which is still healing....I hope to resume one day. I experienced increased energy and reaching enough sleep in less hours (7 instead of 8-9).

I haven't done the exercise #6 because I am married and my partner is not ready for a celibate marriage.

So I am not clear if the aging reversal is to be expected only with 6 exercises or even with 5. I understood that the 6th one is for increasing spiritual development. I already meditate (TM) for 20+ years and do yoga so I am evolving on that plane as well.

  Hi,
  I've been practicing the 5 tibetans for just over a month now and have noticed they give me energy and a sense of wellbeing. I'm up to 9 repetitions. I've found if I feel dizzy on the spins then I just keep doing that same number of repetitions each day till I feel balanced, then progress two more spins the next day. I've moved up a couple too soon and found that it can make detox more severe. They have been very healing - helped balance emotions and regulated my menstrual cycle. My skin has been glowing and people have commented asking what my secret is.
  I have also had a few detox symptoms like itchy rash across lower back, spots across chest, chills, sweating.
  Also it stirred really intense emotions in me and gave me vivid dreams.
  Another thing I've noticed is my eyes get really sparkly and bright at times and then can be really dark and murky (usually this is when I progress to more). Also my pupils have been dialating at times which is weird.. I think this may have something to do with activating nerves?

    the exercise is amazing , and if you allow it changes your life.
    i discovered a great book " the five tibetans" by chris s. kilham years ago on the way to india.
    i practiced breathing at first, than added the exercise itself. it became more dynamic and powerful (if you believe in it)
    you feel so energized for a whole day, so you can share it with others:-)
    it helped me a lot a fresh air in Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh) during beginning.
    later i found that there are other great meditation techniques in the book, which make it unique/rare from plenty of other books with the same name "the five tibetans". it´s a true jewel of my library.
    i´m grateful that mr.kilham decided to share ancient secret techniques with the rest of us.

Lately I have been researching a set of yoga exercises that are ostensibly of Tibetan Buddhist origin and were introduced to the West in the 1930s. They have become widely known as "The Five Tibetans". Several years ago, I was doing research on ‘phrul ‘khor (yantra) when I came across a reference to the “five Tibetans”. I decided to look into them. When I saw these exercises, I was immediately struck by the fact that four of the five were quite similar to techniques from a ‘phrul ‘khor system that I was already practicing.

However, I quickly learned that some individuals were claiming that they were not derived from any authentic Indo-Tibetan yoga tradition. One thing that surprised me about the allegations of these skeptics (about why these exercises must be inauthentic) was that their claims either were distortions or in many cases were blatantly false.

Some examples of the false claims and factual distortions used by these “skeptics” are:

In Tibetan yoga there are five chakras not seven charkas. Tibetan yoga does not involve improving health by speeding up of “vortices”. Tibetan yoga was uninterested in adverting illness, cultivating longevity or improving appearance. Authentic Tibetan yoga always includes over a 100 movements. An authentic Tibetan practitioner will always reveal the name and lineage of their teacher (usually accompanied by long dedicational verses). Tibetans did not teach secret yoga practices to Westerners or laypersons in the 1930s. To attempt a practice without reciting from or memorizing an authentic ancient text is unheard of in all Tibetan spiritual lineages etc.

Every single one of these claims is factually (and demonstrably) inaccurate. Some of them even appear to be complete fictions.

Given that the “five Tibetans” certainly -looked like- a genuine form of ‘phrul ‘khor, and that the claims of many skeptics were flatly wrong, I decided to investigate to see if they are a legitimate form of Indo-Tibetan yoga. When I read _Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth_. I noticed that the book described these exercises and their effects it a way that was quite consistent with traditional Tibetan ’phrul ‘khor. Moreover, there were many details that would be hard to explain-away as mere coincidence.

For instance, it is common to group ‘phrul ‘khor methods into groups of five with an additional breathing exercise as a sixth method. It is common for Tibetans to advise practicing 21 repetitions of an exercise. The throat and genital chakras have a special relationship that causes one to affect the other. The seed syllable “om” is associated with the crown chakra. Clockwise rotation is auspicious and counter-clockwise rotation is in auspicious. Physical rotation of the body can cause or augment the rotation of the charkas. This spinning of the charkas is beneficial to the practitioner and ‘phrul ‘khor can be seen as a method designed to accomplish this. Greatly enhanced longevity, health, and even spiritual development are all potential benefits of these exercises.

These details are far too specific to explain away as mere coincidence

I’ve since learned from a lama and scholar of the sa skya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism that the “five Tibetans” are an authentic form of yantra (‘phrul ‘khor) in the Indo-Tibetan tradition. They derive from a set of yantra used in association with the Sadnadapada dharma, especially as a support to candali-yoga practice (candali-yoga is, for all intents and purposes, essentially a Buddhist form of kundalini-yoga)

I’ve been toying with the idea of writing an article on the “five Tibetans” which would probably cover the following areas

1) It would answers the many (false) claims of various skeptics

2) It would illustrate how many details in _Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth_ are directly related to the minutiae of other authentic Indo-Tibetan yogic traditions

3) Finally, it would discuss how the “five Tibetans” were derived from an authentic system of Tibetan yoga and how they were used within their original Indo-Tibetan context.

Would there be any interest in such an article?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

    But if someone had, I was wondering how they compared to the Five Tibetans...it is interesting to me that they are another set of five exercises that come from China (Tibetan region)...from looking at them, ours seem simpler, and less meditive and more stretching of the entire body...
    
    I am happy doing my 21 repetitions per day of the Five Tibetan rites...my beard seems less grey, my hair doesn't seem like the red sea parting on my head is imminent anymore, I have more energy, my nose isn't clogged as often, I feel healthier and stronger...
    
    Don't want to add any more exercises or routines...just curious as to how they compared...

      My energy is OK, I feel strong and fit.
      But haven't noticed too much else in a while!

  'Round 1999, I was having lunch in the Chinatown of NYC, and the practitioners were handing out flyers promoting the practice and clarifying the truth of the persecution in the PRC by the CCP. A year or two later, I located the document when sorting through boxes and decided to purchase the book (Falun Gong) from a local shoppe. For a few weeks, it was my favourite thing to read. I have been doing the exercises on and off since then. Like the Five Tibetans, Master Li Hongzhi's exercises seem to bring me more peace. Their meditative state calms me and allows for my mind to become clear. When I try the Five Tibetans, it seems to be more physical. I realize that they are supposed to activate chakras, but it still seems rather physical to me. I have now been doing both in my routine, and it is hard to say if I get results because I am not consistent with the practice. When I do finally become determined, I'll try to post again on this forum.

In the above site I am repeating the FAQ below

How may time should I repeat each exercise?
............. These exercises are for restoring energy, not necessarily building strength. If you feel great after doing 21 repetitions of each movement, feel free to add another session later in the day to perform another set of 21 repetitions each.

Does doing more than once the set of 21 help or no?

  never think the five tibetan rites are not helpful. if you want to do more than one set of 21 fine it is definitely a pleasure however according to the book and many long time practitioners it is not more effective than only one set daily so i gues the benefits are to be found in simple fact that you do more for your muscles and breathing etc.
  
  i believe a great diference lies in the personal spirit in how and with what thoughts and belief we do these exercises!

    Why I raised the question was that I read in some of the 5T sites that one should not do more that 21 times (strictly),I presumed in a day, say exercise one. From your clarification, I now understand that in a single set one should not do more than 21 times.

        I'm currently doing 17 repetitions of the 5 rites. I haven't started the 6th rite yet I will soon. I red the the book ''la transformation radicale'' de Samael Aun Weor and I found a variation of the second rite that says to reverse aging too. It's callled Viparita Karani Mudra. You stay in this for 5 minutes the first time and add one minute everyday. The goals is to reach 3 hours. I'm doing 11 minutes today =). This pose is the variation of shoulder stand which according to yoga is the ultimate health and beauty exercise. I still do the leg raises as the second rite, I just add this bonus after the 5th rite as a relaxation.

I am just logging in here for the first time. I was really excited to see a forum on christian healing.

Bethel Church has one if not the most active faith healing churches in the United States. They have an international reputation and people go there from all around the world in hopes of Healing. Bill Johnson is the head pastor there. One of the pastors there, attributes the amazing number of healings to the extraodinary faith of the congregates. Bill is a powerful teacher and has written several books on intimacy and service to a supernatural God.

The link above has past sermons given by him and his staff. You will have to create a free account to see the free videos. There is a link to only show you the free sermons.

They have praise services on there too.

My mother and I watched one of the more recent sermons called Back to Kindergarten(August 2011). Bill johnson called out the following health issues for healing:
fungus on the brain/brain
cartledge problems
longstanding infections
Vertebrae sacks that are empty

While we prayed, my mother received healing from the pain going down her shoulder her arm. She has multiple issues including empty vertbrae sacks received healing during this sermon instantaneously. She still has problems but she has full range of motion without pain in her arm now, and before the sermon she had been crying and holding her arms still to try to manage the pain. God is so wonderful.

I hope this is a blessing to someone.
I know complete healing is out there for us all. It is a journey but getting closer all the time. I would love to enter into a discussion on how to actively pursue healing and what resources you find helpful on line.

I posted here by accident. I do respect what you are working at here. Just distracted when looking at the list of forums to post to. Clearly I could stand to meditate to improve my concentration.

If anyone wants to check out the healing service anyway, I promise Bill Johnson is not hookey, or judgemental. Many conservative Christians are suspicious of him because they think he sounds too new age. He is thoroughly Christian but a mystic and many of the things he says are mind blowing. I believe God talks through him. I love how he teaches on a relational supernatural God.

Anyway, as I said sorry to intrude. May you find God in all things and all ways possible.

Hi all,

I'm new to the rites ( just started practicing 2 weeks ago and am up to 5 reps ). I have a question on breathing patterns rites # 3, 4 and 5.

Exactly how should I breathe when I pull in the chin for rites #3, #4 and throwing the head back before bending in #5?

  For Rite 3, you should start with your chin down and body upright and inhale as you lean back and stretch your neck muscles backwards. You should then relax and exhale and return to the start position.
  
  For Rite 4, you should start in the sitting position with your hands at your sides and inhale as you raise your body up off the floor into the table position and hold the position, then relax and exhale as you return to the sitting position.
  
  For Rite 5, you start with your arms straight and your back arched inwards with your head back, then you inhale as you push your bottom upwards to an inverted V position, then exhale as you relax and return to the starting position.

what benefits?
what happens if you suddenly stop doing it and stick with only 5 rites? not because of not being able to be celebate but for example because you just don't get the urge to be transmuted or so?
and in second edition of book of five rites, man who does exercises in photos, who is it? How old is he?
And if you are already young and use this rite what will happen?

I recently started these exercises again, and something very strange happened to me.

At night, just after I fell asleep, I felt as though something struck me in the back of my head, and my whole head jerked forward. Then, I felt a sharp pain in my right underarm, then my right arm jerked straight. Got scared and could not sleep.

Never happened to me before. This was after doing 9 reps for 2 days in a row. I stopped and will go more slowly. I find the exercises easy. I could do 21 reps, but I am afraid of the side effects.

Wonder if something became unblocked?
I had alot of neuro problems due to mercury/lead.

One should slowly EASE into a relaxed program such as the Five Tibetan Rites. I've been trying it for 1 week and it does promote energy and mental well being, (at 10 repetitions now, increase 1 per day/week) . I feel like everything in life is cool and can be taken care of in time. Try it!

How many times a set of 21 5T repeated in a day

hello, never think the five tibetan rites are not helpful. if you want to do more than one set of 21 fine it is definitely a pleasure however according to the book and many long time practitioner...

Further clarification

The 5 Tibetans should be practiced no more than 21 reps in one set and can be done in the morning and in the evening on empty stomach. Doing more than 21 may bring up more problems than benefits. ....

The ones I see on youtube that do it this way don’t look as young as what the book says . Anyways I don’t know lol. I’ll see in 2 months. My main goal is to be able relax deeply.

I usually count my breaths for the first rite, I spin at slightly faster than 1 rotation per breath...and I stop at 21 breaths, but still rotate a few times as I wind down. I don’t do them at any ....

ok then..and how long are you doing those rites at all may i ask? what are your improvements so far? how about 6th rite?
