Re: What would you do?

Thank you so much for your response! This is actually the first time I am "talking" about this so openly (except with the therapist). Especially since there is this image about me as a successfull guy, who's got it all figured out so if I have a problem friends are like "if you can't figure it out, no one can" ;-) ... and this one thing I feel I am not even close to "figuring".

Probably the biggest problem is that she withdraws from the whole world in some way - escapism as you say. She watches all the talk shows, all the soaps, and other similar stuff... reads all the magazines about hollywood and such... and as a result her life is falling apart. She doesn't take good care of herself or her responsibilities.

This then goes on until I say "Enough, I can't be everything in this house!" and then she gets a little more responsible only to fall into the same old pattern.

If I say nothing, things slowly get worse. If I say something, she gets angry and things again get worse. I've even told her that our relationship is nowhere where it could be, and that this slippery slope is how marriages usually break appart. Still, she will only get angry and say something like "Well if you wanna leave - then leave!"

I know this is all because of abuse, like I said she was physically abused by both of her parents, maybe even molested I don't know (she doesn't either), but where is the line where one says "I've tried everything, and now is the time to save myself"?

I will pray for her, and both of us - that's my last resort. Maybe one day she gets up and says "Wow I can be happy , I just need to decide to be happy!"
