One more thing to ponder if you may Loquat, is how the whole idea of preterism got started. I didn't know if you researched that part of it or not, however it may not be an issue for you. In my small amount of reading that I have had time to do right now, I found that it was started by a Jesuit named Luis de Alcasar. He started it during the counter reformation to fight the Protestant view of Catholicism and their poor view of the Pope possibly being the anti-christ.
