Re: The Kennedy assassination is still sending a chill wind thru the heart of American society and politics.
@ Refreshed - You mean as opposed to historicism or futurism? I would say none of the above. The British 'mindset' is somewhat different to yours across the pond when it comes to the interpretation of apocalyptic, in that we don't believe Revelation should be treated like some kinda Old Moore's Almanac where you're constantly trying to pinpoint where we're at based on daily news reports.
If you wanna know how we understand the Apocalypse, read William Hendriksen's 'More Than Conquerors', or Charles Alexander's commentary (Revelation Spiritually Understood), or even Jay Adams' The Time is at Hand. I believe all are available as free pdf downloads.
But much more important than all the above works is how the writers of the NT interpreted the OT kingdom and messianic prophecies. Arguably the best work on that subject (apart from the NT itself of course) is Arthur Carver's The Great Consummation - a must read if you can find it.
As for my views on Israel, come back to me after you've read Carver, then we can have a meaningful discussion about that too.
