Only because you are staunch in your belief that God is so Sovereign that he has to be torturing people in order to be Sovereign. When I see God as so Sovereign that He can give people free will to allow them the choice between heaven and hell. The torment is due to separation from God and having to forever be in the presence of demons/devils/satan.

The word Torment can be any of those meanings or just one of them....or none of them.

Torture comes from the Latin tortus, “twisted". Saying our Lord is twisted when He allows for hell, is an insult to our better understanding.
