First 10 day water fast. Well-wishes welcome!
Greetings, all.
In September 2013, I experienced true hunger (a gentle, yet insistent gripping sensation about the throat, accompanied by a non-craving urge to eat) after several months on a low calorie, fat-reducing, "clean eating" plan, at which time I resumed normal caloric intake. I did not monitor my tongue during this process, but I was quite lean.
Tomorrow, I intend to begin and complete a ten day water fast. I grieve that I will not be able to go to the return of true hunger, but I hope I will be able to clear my tongue. In the past two years, I have frequently employed intermittent fasting (a name I believe to be overly pretentious for what it is, since healing work cannot get underway), and 48-72 hour water fasts. This will be my first extended fast.
My goals are to normalize fluid levels in my body (I can swing ten to fifteen
pounds over two days from water retention, which is bad for my heart function), normalize insulin response (I have four months of toxic eating and high stress to repair), and, hopefully, clear my tongue. It goes white immediately, with bright pink edges, like health peeking through.
I have taken off work and will rest intensively throughout this process. Please wish me well!
