Jan Kwasniewski, M.D. from Poland, used the highest fat diet that I know of to reverse a host of dieases including cardiovascular disease. He had a clinic and published two books.
Granted, the diet is extremely difficult to follow but he got the results.
In the presence of low carbohydrate and low protein the highly saturated fatty ACIDS work to clean the entire body - not dissimilar to the way fruits can clean but via a different metabolic mechanism.
Actually, most people who follow a paleo diet are consuming too much protein, this is the problem.
So we have people following mcdougall getting results with high carb, people following graham with high fruit, people doing high fat and getting results, people doing the zone diet with balanced macronutrient ratios. What conclusion can you draw?
Not only was the kwasniewski diet successful but it worked for elderly people as well.
Boom.
