I read somewhere that Cuba, which has an excellent national health care system, had a much lower infant mortality rate than the US. On further investigation, I found that the reason for this was that in US, due to medical advances and early intervention, had many more premature babies born. This increase is in a very high risk population. Thus, the reason that a higher percentage of infants died in the US.
