Re: The Different Types Of Government Explained
I do understand the differences between a democracy and a republic. From what I can tell from the posts in this forum, some people believe that the USA is no longer a republic.
The American political system is a representative democracy. It is also a republic with laws that protect the individual from the the possible tyrany of the majority.
The question I was asking is, if people don't want a democracy, (a republic is still a democracy), what alternative do they think is viable?
Do people want a republican model of democracy, with more laws to protect the individual?
Do people think that some other form of government is a viable alternative, eg: dictatorship, communist, etc ?
Would people rather no government?
Anyone trying to force a particular type of republican democracy on others is just another mob trying to engage in mob rule. Isn't this the very thing that the believers in a republic want to protect people from?
