Re: The Restore America Plan - Tim Turner
The constitution allowed slavery. It was never banned it under the
constitution, only by the Emancipation Proclamation.
The constitution provides for an army, but it has no provision for the
limitation of immigration. That was limited through acts of
congress. Our borders were free and open and anyone who wished to could
enter our country and after an appropriate period of time become a U. S. citizen
- including your ancestors.
Blacks were counted as three-fifths of a person under the original
constitution and slaves were not allowed to vote. Read your history.
"How could you possibly call the nanny state progress? That's almost
unbelievable. Let's depend on the most wasteful and corrupt way to do things.
Let's let them provide "protection" and take away our God given
rights."
How can you call the U. S. a "nanny state?" The revocation of
slavery, the granting the right for women to vote, removing the shackles of
segregation, the abolition of the poll tax, the protection of women's health
rights, the abolishment of discrimination based on gender, race, ethnic origin,
sexual orientation - that created the "nanny state?" I'm all for
it if that's what you wish to call it.
Those trying to halt or even reverse progress are kicking and screaming and
they will have limited success in some areas, but progress will continue and
there isn't anything you can do about except - get out and vote, just like I
can.
