There is simply no comparison between the amount of land and water it takes to support beef versus the same amount land and water it takes to produce an equal amount of nutritious food from plants. It may be true that there isn't enough fruit to go around now, but that is like saying there isn't enough money to go around.  Take away the money it takes to support the Rothschilds and Rockefellers (the meat eaters of world weatlh) and there would be quite a bit to go around for everyone.  There might not be enough fruits or vegetables to go around right now, but if you took the land that was used to raise meat and converted it to raising fruits and vegetables there would be an abundance of food.
