Re: Meat and veggies
Here you go; I posted it on the raw site too.
Here's my new favorite snack, for when I'm feeling tired.
choco smoothie
1-2 tablespoons raw sesame tahini
about 1 tblspoon flax seeds and 1 tblspoon raw cacao, ground in a coffee grinder
2 medjool dates
2 cups of water
blend everything up in a blender
I don't really measure everything, so you can adjust the ingredients/amount of water to your liking. I think there is just enough cacao to give me a little energy boost. I used to make this without the flax, but I think the flax makes it healthier and much more tasty. When I run out of raw tahini, I will try this same shake, but grind the whole sesame seeds in the coffee grinder as well and experiment with mixing white vs black sesame.
I am not fond of the taste of carob, so I use cacao. Is carob supposed to be healthier? Well, if I don't like it, then I won't eat it anyway.
I keep raw almond butter in the house to make my kid's "peanut butter" sandwiches with. Sometimes it is a good snack to eat a spoonful of this stuff plain.
My other favorite is raw almond hummus, which I usually spread on
Celery for a great snack; the only thing is that it is kindof a pain to make, but well-worth it and teaches you the "zen of almond peeling".
1 1/2 cup almonds, soaked at least 8 hours and peeled (this is 1 1/2 cup after soaking measurement)
1/4 cup raw sesame tahini
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon
Sea Salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
juice of 1 1/2 lemon
1 - 2 cloves of garlic
mix everything up in a food processor until creamy. Enjoy:-)
Tina.
