Re: Newbie Warrior (fsnaturelady)
Hey thanks for the responses,
It's funny,I just found out last night form my sister that my mom had gestational diabetes while pregnant with me. I was a 10 month old baby when delivered and was close to 12 lbs and my poor mother was only 5'2!
The topic of fruit and honey are very perplexing for me. I don't care if honey is raw, unheated, from your area blah, blah, it is still one of the most concentrated forms of sugar. Our ancestor who did eat it and African tribes who collect it,only consumed it very rarely. I see some people on this forum who eat it daily. What will that do to their bodies ability to handle
Sugar in the future? Will they end up like me?
And fruits like melon, pineapple, bananas also induce a huge spike in insulin..if I consume a banana even with some almond butter,I just head to the couch and I am done for the day.
Diana Schwarzbein is not a big fan of fruit. She says their are no vitamins, minerals or any other phytonutrient found in fruit that cannot be found in vegetables. I don't totally agree. I think there are still some unknown compounds that help protect us from disease, especially berries.
I guess on the warrior diet, fruit may not be an option at all for me and the AV diet honey will be a total no-no. But looking at all the raw butter and egg concocotions, honey will make the eating plan more palatabe..see where I'm at?
My cholesterol is great, but being insulin resistant my HDL's are low and triglycerides are high. Reason? Since my body cannot accept the sugar(carbs)into the cells efficiently for energy, insulin will do its "evil side" of it function.
Insulin will take the free flowing
Sugar in my system and it will turn into blood fats, where it will be stored around the waist.
I laugh when I see these cortisol supplements saying belly fat is due to high cortisol levels. Insulin is a fat storing hormone.
So do you all agree, looks like just meat and veggies for me?
thanks again and I think I will get a monitor today..
