Re:On Healing

What I am hearing you say, is that this
therapy did not work for you, or you cannot
imagine it working for you?

I have seen it work for many many people.

I also used rage therapy after being in
an attack by a chimp. I was ANGRY that
no one had the cajones to intervene. I
was also a "nice" person and it was too
difficult for me to rage on my own. In
being taught a way to discharge the physical
effects of my anger, it provided me a way
to channel pain which I had begun to layer
all sorts of thinking on. It is healthy to
get those strong emotions out, rather than
stuffing them until they do begin to
hemorrhage through the psyche. My rage
therapy was combined with holding therapy
and so I do not imagine I have felt that
level of healing ever. It reminded me in
a way of childbirth. I did birth an aspect
of empowerment in myself which previously
I had no awareness of. It also allowed me
to finally get a good night's rest and to
stop reliving the event over and over.

I now have no fear of healing my anger.
Even if it means facing the demons of my
past or the ones I think live in my future.
I am grateful there are people who do not
try to make me feel like it is not alright
to feel anger and want to insist, "everything
will be fine...just let it go". I can easily
nurture myself. It is more difficult for me
to uncover the ugliness of my emotions and
the ways I have twisted my thinking in order
to endure, rather than healing the issues.
Thank goodness there are healers who can
help people like me. I am not alone in this
need either.

Indeed, when I have reached a level of
frustration in a situation where using my
tire thumper to beat the sheet out of a
sturdy cushion, I find it very enlightening
and affords me, in the aftermath, a peace
and calm I was unable to attain before giving
my anger an outlet...

peace,
Zoe
