I believe you have missed a distinction of healing
and personal growth

Personal growth can be approached from a break down to build up theory
but those are beginning to be passe' in the world of training and development

These boot camp or military attitudes are transforming into a easier and less violent way of being that has always been available.

Now is very in vogue, but when anything becomes in vogue you can be sure there will be the less than savory spinning their bid for money. and of course one may point to that in the kinder gentler way of personal growth, but that was available in the boot camp era also( I guess it is always available)

But as to sand papering someone until they are raw for healing, this is a very off base strategy. This fellow was already raw, the work was done in betrayal and pain- even in boot camps once the participant is broken down they then rebuild with a positive image or help.

Throwing them off the cliff is also not a very good strategy and I will consider that to be a euphemism to flying in the zone where they have not flown before, or getting their wings under them. This technique is used when one is already being built up, and ready to try out new wings- not in the break down stage unless you are in a severe training for special ops or one of the superlative branches of the military.

Not a strategy for the love lorn or already bleeding, these techniques are for the superlative healthy and the warriors. Not for the torn and broken.

I think if you invite your healer to post he/she will confirm she is a personal growth coach...for those that are healthy mentally and spiritually.

But this is just a guess.

Why don't you ask your healer to post? Maybe we can clear the misunderstanding up?
