Day 13 / 14: Back on solids!
More energy than you could shake a stick at
Date: 8/12/2007 2:53:41 AM ( 17 y ) ... viewed 2647 times I had a great day yesterday and really felt like I was reaping the rewards for my cleanse. I started the day with OJ then had some more pureed soup for lunch. In the afternoon my boyfriend and I went for a walk and he got hungry and wanted to go to this nice pizza restaurant on the seafront. Pizza being my favourite food and ultimate vice. Grrrrr. But I always feel guilty if my crazy food stuff impacts on him so I did my "of course, let's go, that sounds great" thing. But it was actually great. It was gorgeous and sunny, we sat outside and I had a freshly squeezed OJ, some sundried tomatoes to pick at and a side salad to eat while he was eating his pizza (which he finished before me). To be honest, I didn't even really want any pizza and the salad totally filled me up (a miracle!) and it was so good to be going out for food again.
Last night we stayed in and watched a DVD and so again when I went to the store to get a movie he gave me some money and asked me to get him some toffee popcorn. I haven't eaten that stuff in ages but when you're starting to re-gain an appetite things like that start to sound like a good idea. Luckily it contained milk so I wouldn't eat it anyway but I made myself some cruditees from the veg left over from my soup (celery, red pepper and tomatoes) and as he picked at the popcorn, I picked at veggies. Again I was full and he even noticed the smugness on my health as I was healthier-than-thou. Or maybe it was just his guilt.
The best thing about yesterday however was my abundance of energy! I usually sleep in at the weekend but I was up at 7.15 and was up at 7.45 today. Yesterday we went straight out for a walk to the beach and later walked about another 5 miles along the coast. In the evening, when I should have been tired, I still had energy (hence my run to the movie store for something to do). I live at the top of a hill which has always been a bit of a struggle to walk up but yesterday I powered up as if on the flat. I am loving this feeling.
Today I'm going to start with OJ again, maybe have some more chunky soup for lunch and then tonight I'm going to roast some vegetables (it is Sunday after all) and have them with a veggie gravy. The tomorrow, it's back to 3 proper meals a day. I hope I can eat food that will maintain this level of energy and not cause the weight to pile back on but at the same time I'm looking forward to eating something other than veggies and salad. I'll let you know how that goes.....
