when is it "it's time"? You will never find MANY fruits & vegs for sale, because they won't withstand shipping and have a very short shelf life. Does the shorter "life" to rot span of these varieties make them less full of life?

And the fact that something dries rather than rots has a great deal to do with a lack of humidity & a cooler temp. It indicates storage conditions.
