John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice to attone for our sins...this is why we do not live by old testament rules and sacrifice lambs and cattle. His blood washes us clean and saves us from our sin...saves us from eternal damnation and gives us eternal life. Whether or not Jesus actually says he was a savoir is irrelevant...he is a savior, the definition of a savior...he saves us, preserves us, protects us from danger and destruction. He is refered to as a savior by many in the bible and Jesus never corrects these people who call him their savior. If they were wrong Jesus would have corrected them and made it clear that he was not, he doesn't do that. He may not call himself a savior but does refer to himself as one and makes it clear that believing in him and his father will give you eternal life and save you from pit of hell where people sob and grind their teeth.
