Re: New to water fasting - Asking for advice

Hey Srinath,

Thanks for all the useful information!

About lifestyle changes when it comes to losing weight, here's how I see it: if you choose to avoid fasting, then the other choice is to have a healthy lifestyle. On the other hand, if you fast, after you're finished you still have to change your lifestyle into a healthy one. Either way there has to be a change in your lifestyle. The second option is better in my opinion cause you get rid of the fat much faster, then you can continue your healthy life.

Anyway, what I am concerned about, is things like micronutrients / minerals. I know the body can get its energy from stored fat, but what about Potassium for example? I've been reading a lot of articles talking about people who died during water fasting, even during short ones (like 21 days) due to heart failures. This happened even though they still had fat reserves.

Of course I'm taking multi-vitamins, calcium, magnesium and some other micronutrients but I doubt there is everything in there that the body needs.

Some articles also mention that the body burns muscle during fasting, including from the heart, making it weaker. But this doesn't really make sense to me. As long as the body still has fat reserves, which are only used for energy, why would it burn heart tissue, which is vital?

Thanks,

Adrivan
