Do I need to do anything else to be sure its safe?
The only thing you should be consuming on a fast is distilled water, nothing else.
Distilled water is free of pesticides, and all the crap the government allows to be put into our water.
Fasting for weight loss is a waste of time because you will gain all the weight back and then some. The reason is your metabolism will slow down causing you to gain weight back faster, plus most people will revert back to the same eating habits, exercise , etc. as before.
As far as how long you should fast? I would suggest starting out fasting for a couple of days, then every week add a day until you feel comfortable with the process.
Might be a good idea to read up on fasting.
Don't get discouraged by this, it will help in the long run.

Hi Srinath, Thanks for the information, although I don't buy into the idea of dry fasting.
I am aware there are plenty people that do.
I found this article to share with you that takes my my side of the question. My side derives from what makes sense to me.
You know, like when riding your motor, it makes sense to keep the round side down. LOL
