Re: The Sinners Prayer: Does it Save You?
The sinner's prayer is not dangerous in and of itself, but the idea that it's our decision for Christ and our saying the prayer being what saves us, is what is dangerous. And there are a lot of people that believe that so that's why I thought this was an important topic.
But there are a million dangers, a million false teachings, etc. and God will still accomplish what he set out from the foundation of the world to do, save his people, every last one of them. So in that way, everything will work out for the good, even the sinner's prayer being taught as the causation for salvation, or me saying the sinner's prayer is dangerous and my meaning of that being
misunderstood. :)
The disciples were exposed to all kinds of dangers and had it not been for the grace of God, they wouldn't have made it through all they went through with their faith intact. And you are right, they did not understand a lot of things until later. So God will keep his children safe through whatever misunderstandings or dangers that come about, but it's always better to know the truth and have deeper understandings vs. not even when we are safe in the father's arms.
