Re: The Sinners Prayer: Does it Save You?

Why do people take communion? Is there saving grace in the "act" of communion? No.

Luke 22:19-20
And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

Can this act be done without the understanding of what Jesus is really telling us to do in our hearts? Yes.

Likewise, saying the sinner's prayer, can also be said without understanding or even agreement in the words. Yet, we are told in Roman 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
