The Sinners Prayer: Does it Save You?

If you've been a Christian for any length of time I'm sure you've heard about the Sinners Prayer. I remember feeling for a long time that unless I had prayed that prayer that I wouldn't be saved. In fact, I remember praying it over and over throughout the years just to reassure myself that I was saved. In fact, the church I attended at the time encouraged it as a way to "re-commit" to God.

But, as I drew nearer to God on my own I started to question: "Was it that prayer that saved me? Is that all it takes?" So many evangelists push "the prayer" so much that you think that's all that salvation means. But is it?
